Pride and Prejudice is full of amazing quotes! Below you’ll see which quote fits with your enneagram type in these Pride and Prejudice quotes by Enneagram types.
I, as a rule, do not type fictional characters. I know it’s a fun thing to do and I’ll admit I do it internally but I won’t create a post telling people what enneagram type Mr. Darcy was.
Why? Because fictional characters are an amalgam of the author (or screen writers/producers) imagination.
That said, I will do quotes by enneagram types. Quotes are just a snippet of the person who said it but that snippet can be a decent glimpse of what a particular enneagram type might believe or agree with.
This does not mean that if Elizabeth Bennet says what I think is a type 1 quote that she is a type 1. It just means that the quote seems 1ish.
Now that I’ve got all my disclosures over with, on to the fun stuff! All of these quotes are from the Pride and Prejudice book (not movie, although many can be found in the movies as well).
Full disclosure: Not a single one of these quotes is from Mr. Darcy. How I do not know…the man clearly had quotable lines but for this enneagram series I was either not pleased with his lines for types or I found more suitable quotes that knocked Mr. Darcy’s out of the running.
Pride And Prejudice Quotes By Enneagram Type
Type 1 Pride And Prejudice Quote
“The more I see of the world, the more am I dissatisfied with it; and everyday confirms my belief of the inconsistencies of all human characters, and of the little dependence that can be placed on the appearance of merit or sense.”
This lovely quote is from Elizabeth Bennet.
Type 2 Pride And Prejudice Quote
“The distance is nothing, when one has a motive”
This is yet another Elizabeth Bennet quote.
Type 3 Pride And Prejudice Quote
“Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us.”
A quote from Miss Mary Bennet
Type 4 Pride And Prejudice Quote
“They walked on, without knowing in what direction. There was too much to be thought, and felt, and said, for attention to any other objects.”
This isn’t a character quote but rather a narration quote.
Type 5 Pride And Prejudice Quote
“We are each of an unsocial, taciturn disposition, unwilling to speak, unless we expect to say something that will amaze the whole room, and be handed down to posterity with all the eclat of a proverb.”
This is an Elizabeth Bennet quote.
Type 6 Pride And Prejudice Quote
“Do not give way to useless alarm, though it is right to be prepared for the worst, there is no occasion to look on it as certain.”
A quote from Mr. Gardiner
Type 7 Pride And Prejudice Quote
“I am only resolved to act in that manner, which will, in my own opinion, constitute my happiness, without reference to you, or to any person so wholly unconnected with me.”
This is Elizabeth Bennet replying to Lady Catherine
Type 8 Pride And Prejudice Quote
“There is a stubbornness about me that never can bear to be frightened at the will of others. My courage always rises at every attempt to intimidate me.”
Miss Elizabeth Bennet talking to Mr. Darcy
Type 9 Pride And Prejudice Quote
“I often think,” said she, “that there is nothing so bad as parting with one’s friends. One seems so forlorn without them.”
A quote from Mrs. Bennet
As fun as it is to find Pride and Prejudice quotes by enneagram types that fit our types that, of course, is not where the real growth is.
